FP PROJECT IN ILORIN, KWARA STATE.
Royal Heritage Health Foundation (RHHF) is a Non-Governmental Organization engaged to work on NURHI/FP project in 5 LGAs of Kwara State. NURHI is a 5-year project which is already at its exit phase. The project was created and funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The project aimed at having a Nigeria where barriers to family planning use are eliminated particularly among the Urban poor.
The project was carried out in 5 LGAs in Kwara State namely: Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Ilorin West, Irepodun and Offa. These 5 LGAs consisted of 31 slums with 155 Social Mobilizers that worked as volunteers in all the slums

ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT Selection and Training of Social mobilizers
GIT Crew meeting: Monthly meeting with mobilizers in order to plan and get feedback, take action and linkage with ACG and FPPN

ACHIEVEMENTS
- At the inception of the program, a target of 19, 978 FP methods accessed was given, but at the end of year 5; 35,201 was met.
- 10,870 completed referrals (2012- November 2014)
- 101 Key life events (2012 – Sept 2014) were conducted.

- 84 Community covered during the Neighborhood Campaign and Community Dialogue (March 2014 – November 2014)
- The SMs reached out to over 20, 000 people with the good news of Family planning during the neighborhood campaign (March 2014 – November 2014)
SUCCESS STORY
“I use to believe that FP is not good before because people say when someone use FP such person will be fat, FP causes one to be lean, FP can make a lady’s stomach to protrude or that such a person will not be able to give birth again. But now, the misconception has been erased because since my wife started using implant, there is no problem, no stress and everything is okay”.
