Royal Heritage Health Foundation with support from Center for Disaster Philanthropy conducted a 5-day capacity building training exercise was conducted for the 54 selected and screened health care workers as vaccination team members across 5 LGAs; namely: Gujba, Fune, Potiskum, Nangere and Jakusko for the strengthening COVID-19 prevention services and mitigation project held at Potiskum, Yobe state.
The training content included Basic fact on COVID-19, Case definition, case categorization, case investigation, contact tracing and surveillance, hand hygiene, vaccine administration procedure, vaccine general storage, handling principles and management of vaccine, signs and symptoms of COVID-19,management of An Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFIs), criteria for suspected, probable and confirmed cases, social transmission of COVID-19, prevention of COVID-19 among health care workers, team composition of the vaccination team, roles and responsibilities of the team, capturing of 1st dose clients who need assisted registration, EMID recorder guide for 2nd and booster dose and EMID validation process.
There were practical sessions to ensure that proper data are collected on the field and properly uploaded to the EMID platform. The participants were adequately informed how data flows from the field to the state data. The training sessions recorded knowledge increase of 94% for Yobe state which indicates that the training sessions were highly impactful, and the participants had been equipped with adequate skill required to carry out the assigned project task successfully.
